I’ve been keeping an eye on the PSP hacking scene since I got mine in December. Unfortunately, since my hardware came with firmware revision 2.01, I was unable to run any homebrew software on the system. One of the most promising homebrew apps I’d seen was PSPRhythm, which was featured in Make RSS feed. After getting sufficiently excited about it, I finally buckled, and bought Grand Theft Auto. There’s a bug in the game that has been exploited by a prominent member of the PSP hacking community, allowing me to run homebrew applications. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet been able to get anything but the eLoader (the homebrew loading application) to work. Choosing an eBoot brings up a black screen for about 10 seconds, then resets the PSP.
